2 years agoWell it has all come to an end! 15 weeks of web page design and what can I say? Well it was a very challenging subject, just the fact that most of the people in the course have never made a website before, it is always very hard when you have to learn something from scratch, but it is all worth it in the end. This subject for me was very interesting, learning the in’s and out’s of how web pages operate in general. This course made me aware of what actually goes into creating a decent website, the time and challenges that are involved, I will never take another webpage for granted again! This course also made me a little insane, just when you thought you have mastered one thing something else would come up and give you grief! Over all it was a well run course, but I do not think that I have mastered the art of webpage development, there will need to be more time invested in this I am sure. Well this will be my last blog, so thanks for listening!

Web 2.0 is just a concept, more of a culture shift that happened. A shift from static content to user generated content. Examples of web 2.0 include API’s that allow the user to create a customs lay out of the original interface, examples include Wikipedia, Flickr, Google maps and the list goes on. Web 2.0 relies heavily on user-generated content, and with this comes the formation of web groups, who collaborate with different types of media, which can be discussed and analysed over a wide audience, the most common form would have to be comments pages that allow users to interact with each other about a specific piece of media. It is all about user participation and content generation without these things 2.0 would not exist, so basically web 2.0 exists because of Internet users just like you and me.
Mash ups, mash up the various concepts of web 2.0, into hybrid forms, allowing you to change the platform into any way that you like. Combining elements of different interfaces into a custom platform.
2 years agoOk so yesterday I had a good slog at customizing my blog theme. When starting this project it seemed to be a little daunting but as I spent some time with it, the job became really quite easy! You just forget how much you have actually learned from building your own website and being aware of what each section of code actually does. So I started with customizing an existing blog, and just changing the simple things like background, and the header images. I then moved on and started to customize the font and table layout, which was not hard at all. Finally I replaced the navigation buttons at the bottom of the blog and walla there it is. I will probably do some more on it this week, but you can get the picture of the way it is going to look!
2 years agoSo I have finally finished my website, and it feels great, but hosting this is another problem, everything works so well but for the embedded youtube video, it is not existent! There is always something isn’t there, just like linking your CSS sheet, all was fine until your back ground disappears and all the problem was removing my <style> tags! God I could go on with this for a lifetime about the trial and error of webpage development! This has got to be the worst of it finished?! I am hoping so. Next time I have to create a page I’m sure that it will be a lot better than then this. No all i have to do is fix this youtube video and I am sweet!
2 years agoOk so i have finally found a free web hosting service that does not spam your page with ad’s which is great because i did not want to pay for something that I will probably use for a few weeks. Here is the link just sign up upload your pages and you will be sweet, i am going to post this on the unit page too. Good luck with the websites everyone :).
